 Our Story

I've always loved art
I've always liked to create
I've always liked the hospitality industry
I've always loved the water
I've always liked to transform spaces
I've always loved gardens and gardening
I am a die-hard New Englander
So we bought a beautiful historic property in the center
of a very historic town, Glastonbury with direct river access...
Spent years renovating...
Transformed this tired property into a showpiece of
Art, design and gardens...
Made a home and business reflecting my design style...
Have been operating as a small country inn, event venue & retreat for the past 12 years....
And now I am combining my love of art & hospitality
into a magical retreat location for all things creative!

 Testimonials

I had the honor to conduct my workshop here. It is truly a beautiful, scenic, picturesque place. The studio is very pleasant to work in. The owner, Pat, is a wonderful host with extraordinary cooking skills. I spent my time very well and I will be glad to come back and conduct more workshops! Working there was seamless and extremely comfortable.”

"Just want to say what a fantastic stay I had at this most perfect property, Pat and Wayne are terrific hosts and made me feel at home. The communication was great from the minute I booked to leaving. This historic property is a cool cool place that you have to visit, my room was luxurious and way more than I expected. If I could give it 6 stars I would. Looking forward to coming back!"

"The Connecticut River Valley Inn and the Atists Rising Creativity Retreat certainly exceeded expectations. The property is wonderfully landscaped with fabulous gardens all designed by the owner, Pat.. The room was comfortable, very good bed, roomy and had a balcony looking over the gardens, including a knot hedge that can only be appreciated from above. Pat had good dinner recommendations and, in the morning, directed us to a nice gravel walk along the river. When we said we were going to check out historic Wethersfield, she told us about the oldest car ferry in the US (3 car, $5!) which runs from S. Glastonbury across the CT River - a four minute trip not to be missed! We were also delighted to see Pat’s digital design studio and learn about her art, much of which decorates the inn. Really a unique and lovely spot that we enjoyed very much."

"I felt like I was on a little vacation staying at the CRVI! The Autumn Room was my respite for my stay. Pat and her two adorable pups greeted me at the door and she showed me my room and showed me how to work everything. The room is just so cozy. There's a huge comfortable bed, a gas fireplace, a tv with a firestick so you can watch pretty much anything, and a beautifully appointed bathroom. There's a pretty cool little balcony that I didn't get to use since it was cold and getting dark. The room had anything you could want...hairdryer, a mini fridge, plenty of charging stations, I was so tired and had to be up early so I just relaxed in my room all evening and was asleep by nine. I was pretty much in heaven though! I will definitely be back!"

"This is our second time staying at this gorgeous inn and retreat. Every room is beautiful and decorated in a different theme personally by Pat, an accomplished artist. We stayed in the Winter Solstice room this time and loved it. The room is artistically decorated with a beautiful brick fireplace. The bathroom is spacious and contemporary with a relaxing body spray shower. Check out the quiet air conditioners in these rooms hidden with beautiful artwork designed by Pat to match the theme of the room - I have never seen this before. So clever. There is also a balcony overlooking the gardens where we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Pat and Wayne were great communicators and very accommodating. I highly recommend this place!!!"

"Simply incredible. Pat's attention to detail is what really sets CTRVI apart from any other place I have ever stayed at. All 5 of the rooms are spectacular and unique. Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean and spacious. It even smells wonderful. Breakfast was AMAZING. The Inn holds a magical, special place in my heart after the wonderful weekend we spent here.!!!"
